Your child’s intelligence DOES NOT develop automatically in most preschools and daycares. These brain development tips can be a big help…
In preschools and daycares, kids get smarter from new experiences and the exercise the brain receives. Sight, sound, touch, taste and smell stimulate the brain’s cell connections (called synapses). When you provide your child with early stimulation and a wide range of experiences, you can improve their brain development.
It’s also important to know that your child’s brain growth is dynamic. It does not stand still. It is either improving or degenerating. When a child’s abilities and talents are being used, brain development progresses. When they are not being used, neural connections are lost, and brain development regresses.
Further, the University of Maine has determined there are “Windows of opportunity” or sensitive periods in children’s lives when specific types of learning take place. For instance, scientists believe that language is acquired most easily during the initial years of life. During these years, the circuits in children’s brains become wired, and repeated exposure to words clearly helps their brain build the neural connections that will enable them to learn more words later on.
