What is The Crème Learning Approach?

The Crème Learning Approach™ is our holistic educational programing and philosophy, which includes:

  • Core Curriculum: A core curriculum that includes learning by age, nap, lunch, gross motor, math, literacy.
  • Signature Enrichments: Four core enrichments offered at every location (STEM, Spanish, Music, Art).
  • Enhanced Enrichments: Additional enrichments offered at select schools based on amenities/local interests (Culinary, Mandarin, Bowling, etc.).
  • Electives: Opt-in classes that cost extra money (Soccer Shots, Ballet Basics, etc.).
  • Rotations: A daily 30-minute rotation schedule.

When will the new curriculum begin being implemented in all Crème School locations?

We’re so excited to launch a new piece of The Crème Learning Approach, our Core Curriculum, on March 2, 2026, across all of our locations.

What are some of the benefits students and families will experience with the new curriculum?

  • Thoughtfully selected materials that prioritize safety and foster reflective, engaging classrooms.
  • Daily Core Curriculum and Signature Enrichments (STEM, Spanish, Music, and Art) work together to strengthen knowledge and skills.
  • Built-in opportunities for individualized learning while building strong classroom communities.
  • Tailored activities for each developmental stage.
  • Early Preschoolers through Transitional Kindergarten children experience all four Signature Enrichments daily.
  • A 30-minute block rotation schedule helps build consistent daily routines.

What is Core Curriculum?

Core Curriculum is the perfect complement to our school amenities and Signature Enrichments program. Students will continue to enjoy STEM, Spanish, Music, and Art daily through 30-minute rotations and other age-appropriate activities.

What makes Core Curriculum different from our previous curriculum?

Core Curriculum is specifically designed for the Crème model and rotation schedule. Daily components include morning and afternoon group times, learning stations, read-alouds, small-group activities, and tailored math and literacy activities.

Our previous curriculum was an off-the-shelf program that couldn’t flex to our unique rotation model or differentiate for children’s ages and stages within one classroom.

Our curriculum is custom-built by our team of expert educators to fit the unique way we offer early learning—through enrichments and rotations. Core Curriculum also brings a consistent structure across all age groups and creates more opportunities for hands-on, child-led learning through small groups and Learning Stations.

What age groups will experience the new curriculum?

The new curriculum will be implemented for infants through Transitional Kindergarten students.

Do kindergartners get this curriculum?

Kindergarten students will continue to receive their current curriculum, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH).

Will our school rotation schedule be changing?

Depending on how your school currently structures rotations, your schedule may be shifting. All schools will be moving to a 30-minute block rotation schedule for Early Preschool, Crème Preschool, Crème Prep, and Transitional Kindergarten students.

Will my child continue to receive Signature Enrichment curriculum (STEM, Spanish, Music, Art)?

Yes, Signature Enrichment curriculum will remain an integral component of the learning experience for children ages 2 and up. Students will experience every Signature Enrichment every day.

Does the Core Curriculum align with state learning standards across all age groups?

Yes, Core Curriculum is tailored for children who are in the age range of approximately 6 weeks to 5 years old and supports learning and development in six key domains: Executive Function; Social and Emotional Development; Physical Development and Wellness; Language and Literacy Development; Cognitive Development; and Creative Expression.

With Core Curriculum, is there a formal process to track children’s development over time?

Our teachers use Developmental Profiles to document everyday wins and age-appropriate skills as they happen. We also put together a Child Portfolio for you which is full of work samples, photos, and notes that really highlight your child’s growth, milestones, and overall progress. These will be shared during family conferences and upon request at any time.

How will my infant experience the curriculum?

The Infant classroom’s Core Curriculum portion of our new curriculum is built around what babies need most: nurturing interactions, sensory-rich exploration, and the space to grow at their own pace.

Some highlights include:

  • Outdoor time and sensory play, like discovery baskets or “wet and messy” experiences that stimulate curiosity.
  • Developmental skill-building in areas like language, movement, early problem-solving, and creative expression.
  • Hands-on exploration, such as stacking blocks, sorting toys, moving to music, feeling different textures, or looking at picture books.

How will this curriculum support my child’s unique needs and learning journey?

One of the great strengths of the Core Curriculum is that it’s designed to be individualized. Teachers adapt activities and goals to match each child’s unique skills and progress.

How will progress updates on our children be provided?

We’ll share updates about your child’s learning in a few different ways. You’ll still receive daily communication through the Procare app, with notes, photos, and highlights from your child’s day. You’ll also get Family Notes at the start of each curriculum unit through the app. These notes describe what your child will be exploring in the classroom.

In addition, you’ll be invited to join family conferences at least twice a year with your child’s teacher. These meetings are a wonderful time to celebrate your child’s accomplishments, talk about goals, and plan next steps together.
