Kids’ Crafternoon Club

Join the Kids’ Crafternoon club  held at the Hosmer Library in Minneapolis every Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Crafting is an excellent way to stimulate and combine both sides of your child’s brain. The right side of the brain develops your child’s concepts of arts and imagination. The left side focuses on logic and patterning, helping kids analyze what they’re creating. It also helps your child develop patience and fine motor skills.

This local craft club is open to kids in grades 3 to 8, with caregivers able to attend with the younger grade levels. There’s no need to bring materials since this club provides them. Sign up for this weekly event at the Hosmer Library and create something new every week.

LEGO Lab Club

If you’re looking for a family-friendly club for your preschooler to attend, check out LEGO Lab. This club is held at various local libraries near Maple Grove. It’s an excellent way to inspire your child’s imagination, cultivating their early engineering and architectural skills. At LEGO Lab, you’ll get to meet like-minded parents who want their kids to create a social environment with their peers. 

Camp Create: STEAM Fun Club

Visit the Plymouth Library once a month for its  Camp Create: STEAM Fun club, ideal for children entering kindergarten to 6th grade. Families are welcome to participate. This club combines science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in its engaging activities. Discover something new as you make art from unconventional items with a different monthly theme.

Stories in Spanish Club

Looking to introduce your child to another language? If you’re interested in learning Spanish,  join the Stories in Spanish club  at the Edina Library every Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Families with children of all ages are encouraged to join. Together, you’ll discover stories and partake in an interactive dialogue in Spanish. 

You and your child can enjoy the brain-boosting activity of being read to in Spanish. Some benefits of your child learning a second language include enhanced problem-solving skills, more confidence, and a richer vocabulary. Connect with your community and new cultures through the Stories in Spanish club.

Baby Storytime Club

Did you know that you can instill a love of reading in your child at an early age? A great way to do this is by joining theBaby Storytime club at Champlin Library, meeting every Monday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This club is designed for children 24 months and under, giving you and your baby a safe, inviting place to read and learn together. This local book club also infuses music into the program to help enhance the right side of your child’s brain.

Families with older toddlers can be a part of the  Family Storytime club  at the Brooklyn Park Library every Monday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This club follows the same format as Baby Storytime, with interactive games, songs, and plenty of fun stories to read. Family Storytime is an excellent option for families with multiple children, from babies to preschoolers.

Online Poetry Lovers Converge Event

Open to all ages, the online Poetry Lovers Converge event is a lovely way to discover poetry with your family in the convenience of your home. Guests can share their favorite poems and discuss their meanings. This club also promotes creativity, encouraging aspiring poets to share their work with their peers. If your child shows an interest in writing poetry, they will benefit from joining this supportive online club.

Read With an Animal Club

For a truly unique club experience, sign your family up for the  Read With an Animal club  at several local libraries near Maple Grove. The Hennepin County Library partners with Paws to Read, a program that lets people enjoy the comfort and support of certified therapy animals as they read a book. 

These sessions, which last 15 minutes, are a great way for your children to practice reading aloud. Make the most of your day and discover a  cool new spot to have a picnic  after your session. You and your kids can plan your next club visit as you enjoy a meal together.

Community Clubs

Maple Grove Lions Club

Join the Maple Grove Lions  to feel pride in giving back to your community. This local club meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month, with plenty of events scattered throughout the year. Maple Grove Lions events include helpful highway cleanups, a delicious waffle breakfast, and a community corn feed. Don’t miss the all-ages music event, Rock’n the Grove, on Sept. 16, 2023.
