Waterlemon came into existence when its founder was looking for a place to take her baby daughter to play in the Chicago suburbs. Unable to find just what she was looking for, she created Waterlemon. In this unique setting, parents can sit in the cafe and enjoy a coffee or a snack while watching their kids have fun at the indoor playground. 

Drop-in play is available most weekdays and some weekends, depending on whether or not birthday parties are scheduled. Before planning your day at Waterlemon, you’ll want to check the website and the social media page to see the most current schedule. Socks for children and adults are required in the facility, but if you forget yours, they’re available for purchase. It also has a gift shop with adorable toys, books, clothing, and accessories for little ones. You and your child will love the bright and welcoming atmosphere at Waterlemon.

Enchanted Castle

If your kids need to go wild after a day stuck indoors, Enchanted Castle in nearby Lombard is the place to go. It has plenty of exciting activities for you to choose from, including laser tag, glow-in-the-dark mini golf, bumper cars, mini bowling, and an escape room. Younger kids will enjoy the two-story play center at the facility, complete with a charming rainbow bumper bridge and dragon slide. It’s sure to spark your child’s imagination. There’s also a game room where your kids can win prizes. 

If your little knights and princesses get hungry while playing at the Enchanted Castle, the Dragon’s Den restaurant can refuel them. You can order a variety of kid favorites, including pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and desserts to round out your meal. This place is sure to become a new family favorite.

Color Me Mine

If you have a budding artist in your household, spending a dreary day at Color Me Mine  in Burr Ridge will be a delight. Even if your kids aren’t naturally drawn to art, the bright, cheery atmosphere and variety of options will appeal to everyone in this unique place.  

When you arrive, you and your kids can choose a piece to paint from over 400 ceramic objects. Once you’ve made your choices, you can select your paint colors. The studio has 60 different colors you may use, and your kids will love that they can choose as many as they want and use as much as they need. It’s all included in your studio fee. When finished, the staff at Color Me Mine will glaze and fire your pieces, and you can pick them up in five days.

FunFlatables

If your kids need somewhere to get their wiggles out after being cooped up inside, you’ll want to check out FunFlatables in Lombard. Your kids can jump, slide, climb, bounce, and crawl through the inflatable playgrounds. Surfaces are soft, so even your younger kids can enjoy the fun. Kids will love exploring all the different bounce houses and slides. 

FunFlatables is geared toward kids ages 12 and under, and the price is the same for all ages. Adults are not charged, so you won’t have to spend extra money just to watch your kids play. Once admission is paid, your children can stay and play until they tire themselves out. There’s no time limit to play; you can even get a wristband to reenter if you want to take the little ones for a nap or lunch break.

Get Air

At Get Air Trampoline Park in Downers Grove, your kids can get active in all kinds of ways. They have trampolines, dodgeball, ninja courses, slacklines, basketball, and balance activities. The facility even has a separate area for little ones under 46 inches tall, so you won’t have to worry about the big kids jostling your tiny tots. You pay based on how long you plan to stay, with pricing available for either one, two, or three hours of play. A discounted rate is offered for younger children as well. 

Your kids will love the fidget ladder, where they’ll attempt to cross a pit of foam blocks and reach the top of the wobbly ladder. But don’t worry; falling in is as much fun as making it across. Kids will love using their craziest jumping techniques to launch from a trampoline into a pit of foam blocks, which provide a super soft landing. The ninja course lets kids race over, under, and through obstacles, testing their balance and agility. If your kids have the energy to burn, Get Air is a great place to visit on a rainy day.
