When the summer heat hits and the kids are off from school, staying home in the air conditioning may be tempting, but if you want to venture out, there are plenty of ways to keep cool around Warrenville. Whether you’re searching for a sparkling pool, indoor entertainment, or recreation, our Crème de la Crème of Warrenville team has some great ideas. Here are some of the best places to stay cool this summer around Warrenville.

Fry Family YMCA

An excellent place for the whole family to enjoy is the Fry Family YMCA at 2120 95th St. in Naperville. You’ll find family fitness classes, swimming lessons for all ages, and special events for families, such as family fun nights, holiday celebrations, health fairs, and an annual healthy kids day.

Fry Family YMCA also offers special parent and child programs for preschool-aged children, which include family camps, parent and child joint swim lessons, and parent and child movement classes. It even offers classes specially tailored to meet the needs of new parents and their infants. A family membership opens the entire YMCA up for you and your children.

Wheaton Park District

The Northside Family Aquatic Center and Rice Pool and Water Park are part of the Wheaton Park District and offer families a place to stay cool and have fun.

Northside Family Aquatic Center

The Northside Family Aquatic Center, at 1509 N. West St. in Wheaton, has everything you need to keep the whole family cool and happy. This fantastic aquatic center has a zero-depth baby pool, an L-shaped pool, a diving board, and a drop slide. You can have a nice afternoon outing with the kids with picnic areas, a snack bar, and lounge chairs. A sand play area, sun hill, and ample deck space are also available. The aquatic center offers daily passes for residents and non-residents, ranging from $7.00 to $9.50 for kids under 18.

Rice Pool and Water Park

A pool with water features your kids will love is what you get at Rice Pool and Water Park, which you can find at 1777 S. Blanchard St. in Wheaton. It offers a zero-depth pool of 16 feet, three lap lanes, water slides, a high diving board, and a lower diving board. The water park has a children’s spray area, which includes a baby pool, waterfall, geysers, and morning glories. Your kids will have a blast splashing around and cooling off from the sun’s rays.

Rice Pool and Water Park features a sand play area, a sun hill, a concession stand, deck space, lounge chairs, and eating areas. The pool and water park offer daily passes for residents and non-residents, ranging from $7.50 to $10.25 for children under 18.

Life Time

Check out Life Time Warrenville at 28141 Diehl Road for fitness and fun for the whole family. This 115,000-square-foot space goes beyond the usual gym experience. With two luxurious pools — an indoor pool for year-round use and an outdoor pool — and a beach club with water slides, the kids will love it. Inside the club, you’ll find a climbing rock wall, group fitness studios, an expansive workout and fitness floor, a full-court basketball gym, and more. When you want to relax after a workout, head to Life Time’s cedarwood saunas and eucalyptus-scented steam rooms, or visit the on-site full-service spa.

Life Time is a great place to bring your kids, as it has youth sports, summer camps, swimming classes, and child care programs for kids ages 3 months through 11 years. Some of the children’s programs include sensory and story time, academy and learning activities, and progressive lessons. When you need some workout time alone, you can be sure your children receive exceptional care and a chance to engage in healthy movement, fitness, sports, and fun. Life Time has variable monthly membership fees, but your family may find it well worth it for all the amenities available.

Astro Fun World

You’ll find a galaxy of glow-in-the-dark fun at Astro Fun World at 301 S. Route 59 in Aurora. You’ll discover many attractions that you and the family can enjoy indoors so you can stay cool all day. Take the Go Karts to race around a glow-in-the-dark track, and kids under 52″ can ride in a double car with you. A rope course with a zip line is open for everyone at least 48″ tall. It’s fun for both kids and adults. You can also try your hand at axe throwing.

Climbing walls include unique structures that put a twist on the usual rock wall. There’s a giant Rubik’s Cube and face-off walls where you race face-to-face to see who can get to the top first. You can even play augmented reality games as you climb a wall. Try climbing the Pole Walkers, leading you 20 feet off the ground. When you get to the top, you can rappel down. The climbing structures suit any height, so kids of all ages can enjoy the fun.

Astro Fun World features a virtual reality ride collection, including a 360-degree rollercoaster, space racer, jetpack, and dream car. Check out the arcade with over 90 new and classic games, including Nerf Battle, Dance Dance Revolution, pinball, and Skee-Ball. The Laser Maze games are suitable for all ages. In one game, try to capture objects while not hitting any laser beams, and in another, try to hit as many lasers as possible before the timer runs out. You can also play the nine-hole glow-in-the-dark mini golf course or a laser tag game.

If you and the family work up an appetite and a thirst while playing, you’ll find a cafe serving pizza, wings, hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, and slushies. A full bar is also available for adults. Finally, check out the kids’ play zone, which is entirely free, and designed for kids 10 and under. It has slides, climbing areas, and a playground. You’re welcome to stop in and enjoy the free space with no other purchases necessary. Paid tickets are available for single attractions, or you can choose from several bundle packages, including family packages.
