If you like fiction, Hamilton Library’s Fiction Group reads popular fiction monthly and meets on the first Thursday of every month at 1 p.m.

If you like local history, join the Chandler Museum Book Club. As a joint effort between the Chandler Museum and the Chandler Public Library books of fiction and non-fiction are carefully selected for readers and club participants in an effort to enhance understanding of the museum’s exhibition Picturing Home: Dust Bowl Migrants in Chandler. The group meets at the Chandler Museum on 300 S. Chandler Village Drive. If you have a love for the outdoors and for reading, consider joining Chandler’s only walking book group, called Books in Motion. The walks are led by library staff at Veterans Oasis Park.

Friends Hiking, Camping, and Outdoor Club

For the adventurous family, Friends Hiking, Camping and Outdoor Club provides a welcoming environment to enjoy activities like camping while you make friends within the community. This group has over 25 years of history and has organized a whopping 625 outings spanning eight states and Mexico. While crossing a border is not required to join, you’ll need an adventurous spirit. The group’s goal is to get individuals from within the community to really experience and see all of Arizona. There are activities for people of all levels, from beginner to advanced, so you’ll find an adventure that suits your family.

Chandler Compadres Branch and Teen Center

The Chandler Compadres Branch and Teen Center offers a wide variety of age-appropriate activities for community children ranging in age from 5 to 18 years. The activities focus on helping youth develop in the five core areas:

  • Character and leadership.
  • Education and career.
  • Health and life skills.
  • Sports and recreation.
  • The arts.

The AZYouthforce is a new workforce development program geared toward helping teens identify interests and learn how to apply their skills in the workplace. There are paid internship opportunities, a program to help learn financial literacy, and communication in interview skills.

Aspires Kids Sports Center

The Aspire Kids Sports Center has been helping Chandler community youth since 1995 be healthy and stay healthy. The massive facility is 32,000 square feet and has state-of-the-art gymnastic equipment, a heated indoor swimming pool, a preschool gym, dance and martial arts rooms, and a comfortable lobby area. The available classes for your child to join range in skill level and interest. Choose from fun options like acrobatic gymnastics, dance, gymnastics for ages 0 to 5, martial arts, ninja, swimming, or trampoline and tumbling.
