It’s Your Move at Smart Club

Smarts Education and Enrichment on Main Street is more than a terrific place for your kiddos to get an academic hand up. In addition to tutoring, your budding Grandmaster can put their skills to the test against other Frisco youth chess players.

This intellectual club offers kids a terrific opportunity to interact with like-minded students. They’ll go head to head with some of the best local players in your child’s age group while learning many practical, real-world skills, like rapid problem-solving.

These interactive environments provide a platform for new players to compete against advanced and novice level players, plus kids with the same chess rating. They’ll even get a game analysis with every match to help improve and may also earn the chance to play in a Dallas area tournament.

Chess instructors with USCF ratings of over 2000 direct the club’s activities. They hold classes every second Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Registration starts at 8:30.

Why Not Join the YMCA?

Your Frisco “Y” staff provides a safe, enriching place for the whole family to indulge in tons of activities — like the youth government club. This popular program at the West Main Street location is part of the YMCA’s nationwide program. Club members meet new friends while learning about the U.S. Government and the media through various hands-on activities.

For your high-achievers, this club is the perfect companion to other groups, such as debate, media, mock trial, and world affairs. Organizers hold district, state, and national competitions annually for those kiddos who love a challenge. Many students gain life-changing skills from the experiences while enrolled in this program, including:

  • Public speaking skills.
  • Leadership abilities.
  • Empathy and diplomacy.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Value of voting.
  • Importance of volunteering.
  • Organized decision-making skills.
  • A better understanding of the workings of our government.

Financial assistance and reduced income-based club fees are available for Texas families who qualify. Beyond all these fun activities, your kids will learn the YMCA’s core values of:

  • Caring.
  • Honesty.
  • Respect.
  • Responsibility.
