Being vegan is a life choice, and it’s not always an easy one to make. That’s especially true if you like to eat out with family and friends but can’t always find choices you enjoy. It is also hard when you are traveling to a new area and don’t know what the plant-based options are. While Oklahoma City might be in the midst of the cattle region, there are actually vegan options that will appeal to those on plant-based diets.

Plant

With everything made fresh and in-house, the plant-based food at Plant tastes as fresh as possible. This location is known as vegetarian, and everything used is locally sourced and organic. The only exception is their use of honey. Gluten-free individuals can also get their fill here. The restaurant offers curbside pickup and even a 7-day plant reset for those who want to start a new eating program on foods they know will give back to their system.

The Loaded Bowl

The Loaded Bowl comes highly recommended by locals and travelers alike. Their claim to fame is their classic macaroni and cheese dish.

While this restaurant started out as a food truck, it now has a brick-and-mortar location that lets everyone enjoy their food without the restaurant ever moving on you. With plenty of plant-based options, as well as to-die-for baked goods, The Loaded Bowl makes it easy for anyone to find something appealing on the menu, whether they are vegan or not.

Nourished Food Bar

Nourished is another all-vegan restaurant in Oklahoma City that allows vegan individuals to order absolutely anything on the menu without worrying about what might be in it. Thanks to its grab-and-go options, this food bar is a great place to stop when you need something quick.

Nourished is known for its salad, soups, snacks, and other items. Regardless of what you order, know that they specialize in clean foods. While their menu stays relatively the same, it does fluctuate some based on what they can buy from local farmers and what foods are in season. Like their delicious foods, their smoothies are top-of-the-line, filling, and nutritious.

Holey Rollers

While not everything sold at Holey Rollers is vegan, the donuts are — and that covers an important part of the day for many people. With dairy-free options instead of milk for coffee, this establishment is definitely thinking of those who want to live the vegan lifestyle. While any vegan donut can be delicious, Holey Rollers offers unique options such as Maple Almond, Espresso & Cream, and Key Lime Pie. These donuts are ones that can be eaten as dessert if you want a second one later in the day. No matter when or how you eat your donut, your taste buds are really in for a treat!

Nabati Vegan Mediterranean

Just because you like vegan eating doesn’t mean you don’t want a zing in your food. That’s why Nabati Vegan Mediterranean offers plant-based Arabic fare with plenty of Mediterranean dishes. The foods are custom-made, and there are also gluten-free cakes and other desserts available for those who want to enjoy something extra special without having to bake it themselves or struggling to find the right ingredients. At Nabati, you’ll enjoy classic Mediterranean food that the owners themselves grew up on.

The Red Cup

The Red Cup is an adorable vegetarian restaurant that is often at the top of the list of places people want to visit if they live a vegan lifestyle. The first thing visitors notice when they enter is the delicious dessert options behind the glass. However, the location also has breakfast options, which are served all day, sandwiches, wraps, pastas, soups, salads, and even vegan burgers. Since this restaurant caters, it’s easy for local vegans to get what they need for their next party.

The Mule

Though The Mule isn’t a strictly vegan restaurant, it is very vegan-friendly. Located in the Plaza District, it’s a great place to go when you are looking at street art and need a delicious break. The Mule is known for its herbivore sandwich, which you can ask the kitchen to prepare vegan-style. This means it will be cooked in oil instead of butter and give you everything you want as a vegan eater.

When you’re looking for the culture in this region, the Plaza District is the place to go. And when you need a bite to eat between stops, The Mule is the perfect place for vegans and vegetarians alike.

Mary Eddy’s At 21C

Brunch can be a hard meal for any vegan, but at Mary Eddy’s, there are delicious vegan options on the menu. Plus, the kitchen makes everything from scratch, so if there’s something special you want, all you have to do is ask, and they’re on it.

Located in the 21c Museum Hotel, the former Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant, this restaurant has plenty of history behind it to enjoy as well. The New American cuisine here is served in an art-filled setting that honors the industrial roots behind the building. With plenty of seasonal offerings and unexpected flavors, it’s a real treat.

Fassler Hall

Most people don’t think about Germany in relation to traditional vegan options. However, Fassler Hall has a great view of the skyline so you can see the sunset and enjoy great things for your taste buds at the same time. Catch live music in the Dust Bowl bowling alley and restaurant downstairs and order food from either menu while you enjoy the traditional German Hall setting. Order the haus salad, pretzels, or sauerkraut to get the full German feel.

Kids benefit from having meals with their families, and it’s a real treat to find a new restaurant with the delicious plant-based fare you want.
