Exercise is part of a well-balanced life and a healthy lifestyle. While many children often find running and jumping fun, introducing your child to alternative forms of exercise can be a great way to help them learn about different cultures and develop new skills. Yoga is an exceptional option that’s challenging and low impact.

A child’s physical development can benefit from the stretching and strength training exercises that yoga offers. Luckily, there are many opportunities in our area to help your child get into a yoga session. Here’s our list of yoga classes for kids around Lone Tree, Colorado.

The Little Gym at Park Meadows is a favorite option for many parents — and for a good reason. Structured classes in a supportive learning environment help children explore their likes, learn about their abilities, and test their physical limits while developing self-confidence under the tutelage of trained instructors.

The Little Gym focuses on three-dimensional learning and maintains the same principle that we at Crème de la Crème believe: Whole-child nurturing is fundamental to healthy development. Classes at the Little Gym at Park Meadows focus on physical development and brain-boosting skills, such as concentration and process learning, as well as citizenship.

With many opportunities to socialize with peers, your child can develop strong relationships that they can carry with them throughout the years. Although the Little Gym primarily focuses on gymnastics, they also offer parent/child classes and camps that feature special stretching and yoga-focused skills. There are also enrichment clubs that extend learning and include more socialization as well as arts and crafts. If you’re thinking about hosting a birthday party soon for your little one, take the stress out of it and plan everything at the Little Gym at Park Meadows. Parties begin at $435.00.

Young Yokes Kids Yoga and Teacher Training

Young Yokes Kids Yoga and Teacher Training has an environment and courses designed specifically for kids. This 501(c)3 is a nonprofit organization based in Denver. While its expansion to other major locations, including Albuquerque and Seattle, can be attributed to its success, Young Yokes is one of the only Registered Children’s Yoga Schools in Colorado. Young Yokes was created with the awareness that there was a growing necessity to merge yoga and children together. Yoga has a slew of benefits to offer youth, including added focus, decreased anxiety, and a stronger sense of self.

Some of the yoga classes offered at Young Yokes are pre-recorded and available for free online. Choose from fun topics, such as Toddler Yoga with Caitlin, where movements are chosen specifically with a growing toddler’s needs in mind. Other courses include Caregiver and Me Storytime Yoga and Caregiver and Kids, a letter series that helps children explore and learn about the alphabet. Teen Yoga with Caitlin is a 45-minute session that explores the concept of Santosha, or contentment, and what it means for the individual body and life.

Family Yoga, with an amusement park theme, is an all-level session to practice mindfulness and breathing work. It can be a wonderful way to wind down in the evening or get the day started while bonding with your child. You can do yoga anytime on your own schedule.
