There’s nothing quite like a Ferris wheel when you’re looking for something to entertain the kiddos. Not surprisingly, Las Vegas has one of the biggest Ferris wheels out there. The High Roller Observation Wheel towers 550 feet, offering amazing views of our city. It’s also 520 feet in diameter, so it’s quite the sight to behold and provides a fun way to see the city we call home. The 28 transparent, air-conditioned pods take you on a memorable experience high above Las Vegas.

This Ferris wheel is not only the place to go for fun, though. You can also make your visit an educational experience by taking advantage of the S.T.E.M. Family Field Trip guide. The self-guided curriculum spurs conversation about science, geography, technology, and more, all while kids experience the classic fun a Ferris wheel offers. Take advantage of deals for locals, seniors, students, and service members when you plan your visit, and remember, kids 6 years old and under can always enter for free.

Family-Friendly Shows

Las Vegas is known as the Entertainment Capital of the World, so you’re sure to find a show to please every member of the family. That goes for kids, too! If you’re in the mood for some live entertainment close to home, here are a few shows you can check out:

Fun Dungeon at Excalibur

Don’t let the word “dungeon” scare you. This world-famous arcade is designed to delight kids (and kids at heart!) with tons of games. And when we say tons of games, we mean it: The Fun Dungeon boasts more than 200 of them.

In other words, look forward to things like Kiddie Land Games, classic arcade games, air hockey, sports games, and more. Don’t forget to check out the world’s biggest Pacman while you’re visiting Fun Dungeon at Excalibur, the place to go when you’re looking for a fun and interactive day to enjoy with the kids.

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat

Las Vegas features an assortment of amazing experiences for animal lovers, perhaps none as famous as Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. There, kids can get up close and personal with bottlenose dolphins, white tigers, and leopards, all while enjoying the beautiful green space. This amazing place may be a tourist attraction, but it’s perfect for area families to enjoy as well. In fact, Nevada residents enjoy a discount on admission, and kids 3 years old and younger can enter for free.

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat first opened its doors in 1990. The institution focuses on education, research, and conversation outreach, so in addition to checking out the animals, make sure to spend some time in the Sustainability Discovery Center. The center features interactive displays where visitors can learn about water conservation, ocean pollution, and wildlife preservation. If you’re looking for a real treat for the whole family, you can upgrade to include special experiences. When available, you can try a dolphin meet and greet, paint with dolphins, and beyond.

Lion Habitat Ranch

Head over to nearby Henderson to check out the Lion Habitat Ranch. The African lion sanctuary offers another amazing experience if your kids love animals. This site strives to protect lions while letting visitors fall in love with the awe-inspiring species, making it a great attraction for families.

Book a behind-the-scenes tour to see daily feeding, bathing, and more as you experience the sanctuary with one of their trainers. To get really involved, you can book an experience to feed the giraffe or even lions. Even if you go for the general admission, you’re in for a great day. You’ll get to see the lions, wild birds, and Ozzie the Giraffe, all without traveling far from home.

Shark Reef Aquarium

Have we mentioned that the Las Vegas area comes with plenty of great experiences for kids who love animals? Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay is yet another example. There, you’ll get to explore 14 shark habits, including a shipwreck area that features 360-degree views of sharks and various other fish. Kids are also sure to love dipping their hands into a touch pool, which features rays, horseshoe crabs, and sharks.

All in all, Shark Reef Aquarium is home to 2,000 animals. Besides the namesake sharks, you’ll get to see giant rays, piranha, a Komodo dragon, and endangered green sea turtles. Like many top Las Vegas attractions, Nevada residents have access to discounted tickets. Kids 4 years old and younger can enter here for free.
