Seed Shack is a family-owned restaurant in Gilbert started by two sisters who wanted to offer people plenty of tasty plant-based vegan and vegetarian dishes. The menu has a diverse collection of American and Asian-fusion cuisine. If you’re in the mood for a burger, consider the beet burger, which includes a beet patty, cucumber, mashed avocado, greens, and lemon tahini. Another popular option is the black bean burger — a black bean patty topped with onion, tomato, greens, and lemon tahini.

For something different, order the cauliflower chickpea tacos. This popular item is made with baked cauliflower, chickpeas, cabbage, mashed avocado, and a southwest sauce. If you saved room for dessert, the apple pie nacho is a fantastic option. This dish is made with cinnamon-and-sugar fried pita, applesauce, coconut whip, and salted caramel drizzle. You can also treat yourself to a smoothie, like the mango cream smoothie made with mango, banana, cardamom, agave, and coconut milk.

Even kids will find something they love on the menu. Seed Shack has peanut butter and jelly on an English muffin, macaroni and cheese made with cashew-milk-based cheese, and tofu nuggets. Plus, all children’s meals come with a juice box and a side of potato fries or mixed fruit.

The Uprooted Kitchen

The Uprooted Kitchen is a small, family-run plant-based restaurant that serves nourishing food. The restaurant is located in the neighborhood of Agritopia, which is built around an organic farm. Many of the ingredients used in the dishes are grown right outside the restaurant’s front door.

You can get your morning started right with the pumpkin butter breakfast crepe, which has a house-made buckwheat oat crepe filled with spiced pumpkin butter, house-made Thai coconut yogurt, and your choice of sunflower seed butter or peanut butter. The crepe is then topped with seasonal fruit, granola, coconut yogurt, and more spiced pumpkin butter.

If you decide to stop by for lunch, consider the veggie grilled cheese sandwich. This delicious meal comes with green kale, house-made cashew cheese, and roasted zucchini, carrots, and onions. All of this is served on locally made toasted sourdough bread and includes a balsamic side salad. For a sweet treat, you can order a slice of banana chocolate chip bread, a berries and cream thumbprint cookie, or a buckwheat chocolate bar.

Green Lotus Vegan

If you’re in the mood for a curry dish, Green Lotus Vegan is the place to go. One popular option is the yellow curry, which has potatoes, carrots, bell peppers, onions, and tofu in a coconut cream curry. They also have an excellent pineapple curry, which contains pineapple, carrots, bell peppers, onions, bamboo shoots, and tofu in a coconut cream sauce.

In addition to curry dishes, the restaurant has a variety of other items on the menu. The noodle options include pad thai, chow mein, spicy basil noodles, and vegetarian pho. You can also order a variety of rice dishes, including vegetable fried rice, pineapple fried rice, spicy fried rice, and combination fried rice, which comes with carrots, onions, soy beef, soy chicken, and soy shrimp. For something a la carte, consider the Basil Eggplant dish, which is Asian eggplant sauteed with basil and tofu. The Sweet and Sour Entree is a filling option that comes with tofu, onions, bell peppers, celery, carrots, and cucumber in a sweet and sour sauce.

Don’t forget to save room for the deep-fried banana rolls topped with chocolate sauce or mango sticky rice topped with diced mangos and coconut cream. Order a side of ice cream to really make this course special.

Elbows Mac N’ Cheese

At Elbows Mac N’ Cheese, you can find American comfort food with a modern twist. While the restaurant isn’t completely plant-based, it does offer a variety of vegetarian dishes and a few vegan options, too. If you love cheese, you’ll enjoy the More Cheese 4 Me, which is made with Parmesan, Asiago, fontina, and Romano. For something hot and spicy, order the Jalapeno Business, which is ghost pepper, habanero, and jack macaroni and cheese topped with fried jalapenos and sriracha-ranch drizzle. If you’re vegan, Elbows has you covered with its I Can’t Believe It’s Not Cheese macaroni dish, which is made with vegan cheddar, grilled onions, and peppers topped with cilantro.

In addition to bowls of macaroni and cheese, you can also order grilled cheese sandwiches. One vegetarian option is the classic grilled cheese made with sharp cheddar. Another choice is the spinach and artichoke grilled cheese that comes with Parmesan, mozzarella, and a creamy spinach and artichoke spread.

Fire & Brimstone

If you have a craving for pizza, head to Fire & Brimstone for a great selection of vegetarian pizzas and other vegetarian items. One classic option is the Margherita pizza, which has tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil. You can also order the vegetable pizza, which is topped with tomato sauce, seasonal roasted vegetables, goat cheese, and pesto. If you want to try something different, order The Big Dill. This pizza has a garlic-oil base, buttermilk dressing, shredded mozzarella, ricotta, dill pickles, and fresh dill.

If you’re in the mood for a sandwich, you’ll find numerous options on the menu. The traditional grilled cheese is made with cheddar, jack, and mozzarella cheeses. The vegetable sandwich includes arugula, hummus, roasted seasonal vegetables, and citrus vinaigrette. You can also try the Caprese sandwich, which comes with fresh mozzarella, pesto, tomato, with a balsamic reduction. If you need something sweet to make your meal complete, the Cast Iron Skillet Cookies come with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and you can get butterscotch or chocolate chip — or both.
