In fact, our area boasts tons of ponds, lakes, parks, and more, so you’re sure to find a great place without traveling far from home.

Harold Bacchus Community Park

Enjoy some fishing without ever leaving Frisco when you pay a visit to Harold Bacchus Community Park. This fun local spot features a range of activities, including a pond perfect for fishing with the kids. Before fishing, you can relax at the picnic tables for a laid-back lunch, or enjoy a leisurely bike ride or walk with the family on the trails.

Frisco Commons

Frisco Commons offers another opportunity for family fishing right here in Frisco. This neighborhood waterway boasts a stocked pond along with plenty of other places to relax and have fun near the water. Picnic tables and barbecue grills make Frisco Commons a great place for an impromptu meal outside. You’ll also find trails for hiking and biking, a spray park, and more.

One highlight at Frisco Commons is the Trick-A-Trout Kid Fish event held every February. Created to give first-time and young anglers a chance to try out the sport of fishing, Trick-A-Trout sees the Frisco Commons pond stocked with more than 3,000 rainbow trout. The free event takes place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Bring fishing gear and bait, then set the kids up to catch fish that are 8 to 10 inches. The first 25 kids that catch a trout will even win a rod and reel combo set.

The event takes place rain or shine, so mark the date down on your calendar each year and get ready for fun. If you want to fish along with the kids, you can get started at 11 a.m. after the main event wraps up.

Cottonwood Creek Greenbelt

You can’t go wrong with a trip to Cottonwood Creek Greenbelt for a day fishing or just enjoying nature. There’s a stocked pond here as well as platforms for fishing or viewing the wildlife. This Frisco gem includes two miles of trails amongst ponds and wetlands. Cotton Creek Greenbelt even won a Texas Recreation and Park Society award in 2018 for the best Texas park design in its population category.

Kids who love nature will find plenty of inspiration from the ecosystem found at Cottonwood Creek Greenbelt. Blackland Prairie, wetlands, and off-channel ponds all come together in a floodplain that also has a floodway. All in all, this Frisco outdoor area makes for the ideal day enjoying nature as a family.

Boyd Park

Looking for yet another fun Frisco location to add to your list of waterways to check out? Look no further than Boyd Park. This park spans nearly 10 acres, featuring trails and a pond that’s a great place for fishing without traveling far. The fishing pond even includes a pier, so you’re sure to have a fun day outdoors when you head to Boyd Park with the kids.

Towne Lake

Head over to nearby McKinney to enjoy Towne Lake, a beautiful park that offers local families a huge variety of ways to have fun by the water and beyond. First up is the pond and fishing pier. This waterway stretches 22 acres, making it the ideal spot for a family walk or afternoon fishing. You can even enjoy a concert by the water here!

You’ll also find play structures, volleyball and horseshoe courts, baseball fields, and a disc golf course all at Towne Lake. Sometimes it can feel like a challenge to keep the whole family on the same page in terms of activities, so this park takes the guesswork out of creating a fun-filled day everyone will enjoy.

Bethany Ridge Park

Bethany Ridge Park is yet another park not far from Frisco that lets you plan a day near water. You’ll find this neighborhood park in Allen, and kids who love water wildlife won’t be disappointed if you drive over to explore this park. Head right over to the water to have fun trying to spot ducks, fish, and even turtles here.

The 7-acre park also features a playground, picnic sites, and walking and biking trails. There’s a fishing pier at Bethany Ridge Park, too, so you’re sure to find a way to keep everyone in the family entertained once you arrive.

Lake Lewisville

Frisco sits close to Lake Lewisville, one of the biggest lakes in north Texas, so you’ll never run out of things to do by the water. The lake spans 29,000 acres, including 233 miles of shoreline. The recreational lake boasts a seemingly endless array of water-based activities. Whether you want to spend the day fishing or swimming, boating or just relaxing on the beach, this popular Texas spot makes getting the family outdoors a breeze.

So, what can you expect when you visit Lake Lewisville? You can rent a boat or standup paddleboards, take a walk along one of the many marinas, or go for a swim at one of the beaches and parks at the lake. Lake Lewisville also boasts plenty of fishing opportunities, so no matter what you’re looking for in a local waterway, Lake Lewisville is a sure bet for family fun.
