You can even book a suite with a separate sitting area with a TV and a separate bedroom. This location has an indoor pool with comfy, pool-side loungers, making it a great destination for families eager to splash around during the colder months.

If you want to explore your hometown of Woodbridge like a tourist, this “aparthotel” is right next to Potomac Mills Mall, Lake Ridge Park and Golf Course, Rosie’s Gaming Emporium (a parents-only destination), and Leesylvania State Park, your go-to outdoor retreat. Embassy Suites by Hilton Alexandria Old Town

The Embassy Suites in Alexandria is a great staycation option for families looking to get a bit further out of town, into some truly historic territory, and close to D.C. without dealing with the traffic and commotion. This is another destination for families who love swimming with its indoor pool. You can enjoy a true hotel experience and order room service; children can order from the kids menu for favorites like chicken tenders. Parents can head downstairs to the Evening Reception for some adult beverages, and the whole family can grab some complimentary breakfast before heading out for adventure.

The town of Alexandria is about 20 miles northeast of Woodbridge, and it offers access to nearby Washington, D.C., without having to stay directly in the city. You’re within walking distance of public transportation that will take you to the National Mall and many other destinations in our nation’s capital. Old Town Alexandria also has a lot of history, shopping, and dining to offer, like the George Washington Masonic Temple. The first president’s estate, Mount Vernon, isn’t too far away either.

This hotel is located at 1900 Diagonal Road in Alexandria.

Hilton Garden Inn Arlington/Courthouse Plaza

The Hilton Garden Inn in Arlington features rooms with king and queen beds as well as sofa beds so the whole family can rest comfortably. Enjoy the beautiful northern Virginia weather on the patio, eat al fresco out on the roof, have an adult beverage at the quaint hotel bar, and get in your workout at the fitness center. You can even stay at the hotel for dinner and eat at the full-service restaurant on-site. And like at many other hotels in the area, you can go for a swim in the indoor pool, no matter the season.

Arlington is about 23 miles northeast of Woodbridge, further north than Alexandria. It, too, offers quick access into D.C. as well as its own fantastic sites. Visit the Arlington Cemetery, the resting place of hundreds of fallen soldiers since the Civil War and important political figures, like former President John F. Kennedy. The Air Force Memorial is a stunning, artistic monument nearby. You can also catch a live performance at the Signature Theatre for something a little different, or go see a movie at the nearby AMC for a touch of home.

Head to 133 N. Courthouse Road in Arlington to stay at this great accommodation.

Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center

The Hyatt Regency in Tysons Corner Center features clean, modern design and fantastic views of the property below and the rest of the town, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. You can book a cozy room for an intimate family trip or a roomy suite for a large group of family members or plenty of privacy for everyone. The heated indoor pool is currently closed, but, when it reopens, will be a great spot to unwind with kids. Treat your family to room service or a few meals at the on-site restaurant. And if you want to enjoy some parents-only time, take advantage of the babysitting services.

Tysons Corner, or just Tysons, is about 24 miles directly north of Woodbridge. This hotel is located right near the town’s major shopping center, making it the perfect accommodation for families who love to shop. It’s also located near a few major highways that take you to a variety of nature-filled excursions. Visit Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in nearby Vienna, or head north of Tysons Corner to enjoy fishing, kayaking, or boating on the Potomac River from one of the many parks and nature preserves on the riverfront.

This local hotel is at 7901 Tysons One Place in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

Salamander Resort & Spa

If you’re looking to get farther away from home or itching for some unique luxury, then the Salamander Resort & Spa is the place to go. Eat at all three unique restaurants, and visit the wine-tasting room. Book spa amenities like facials, massages, mani/pedis, and body treatments, relax in the steam room, or get your hair done.
