If you’re looking for a camping experience with comfort, a trip to Herb’n Soul Sanctuary may be just the thing for you. This peaceful sanctuary has been designed as a sacred space to get away from it all. Your glamping site awaits you amid a forest of pine, oak, hickory, and poplar and adjacent to an active family farm. The accommodations are a safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside your tent is a comfortable queen bed with a memory foam mattress. There’s also additional space for sleeping bags if needed, and you’ll have access to an extra dome tent accommodating five people.

Your glamping site also includes two Tentrr Adirondack chairs, an outdoor fire pit, a picnic table, a heater to keep you warm at night, and fans for hot days. You can take a day trip to Stone Mountain Park, which offers hiking, golf, paddling, and amusement rides. Pine Lake Beach is even closer, only a mile from camp, and is excellent for fishing and swimming. You may catch sight of the goats, chickens, ducks, and bees raised on the farm or some native forest wildlife. The camp is also a great location for bird-watching.

Every campsite has a camp toilet, a sun shower, and a dedicated grill to prepare your meals. There’s no Wi-Fi or electricity at the campsites. You should bring a cooler to preserve your food, along with your s’mores supplies, firewood, pillows, and bedding. If you decide not to cook at camp, Herb’n Soul is close enough to civilization to order food through Uber Eats or DoorDash.

Alpaca Treehouse

For camping with a unique twist, check out the Alpaca Treehouse, where your treehouse is set in a private bamboo forest on a working rescue farm, with alpacas, llamas, roosters, crows, chickens, dogs, and cats. The treehouse has room for two guests and is decorated with antiques with a lux bed, marble bath, composting toilet, A/C, heat, and power. The memory foam mattress in the loft is queen-size, and there’s a sofa on the main floor. You can also choose to sleep under the stars on a full-size mattress in a swinging rope bed with plush pillows. Other amenities include:

  • Towels, toilet paper, and soap.
  • Shampoo and hairdryer.
  • Bed linens and extra pillows.
  • Dishes, silverware, mini-fridge, and coffee maker.
  • Private entrance.
  • Workspace with a desk and chair.
  • First-aid kit.
  • Porch and balcony.
  • Garden and backyard.
  • Luggage drop-off service.
  • Free parking on premises.

If you’re looking for more room and amenities, there are also two brick cottages on the farm with views of the barn, where you can see the alpacas and llamas. The Cozy Luxury Llama Cottage sleeps five and is decorated with antiques, paintings, and comfortable furniture. The Llama Stay Farm Cottage is a well-appointed, thoughtfully decorated, roomy home that sleeps seven.

Bald Ridge Creek Campground

Set in spectacular scenery and along the banks of the aqua-blue waters of Lake Sidney Lanier is the Bald Ridge Creek Campground, nestled in the foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains. The lake spans 692 miles of shoreline and 38,000 surface water acres, and around the lake lies 17,000 acres of lush terrain.

Bald Ridge Creek is an RV campground with 82 campsites providing electric and water hookups. There are no sewer hookups, but the campground has restrooms and bathhouses. This well-maintained park also has the added conveniences of a dump station and laundry facilities. You’ll also enjoy various outdoor recreation activities, including bike riding, swimming, and fishing. The lake also provides the perfect opportunity for kayaking, wakeboarding, boating, and more. There are many islands and coves to explore by boat.

Make tracks to the Sawnee Mountain Preserve for recreation on land, where you can hike and rock climb. The preserve is also home to an interactive visitor center for kids. Also nearby is the city of Cumming, which is home to restaurants, movie theaters, shops, a fairground, and anything else you might need to make your stay more comfortable and fun.

Quail Run at Pate’s Creek Camping

For a site that accommodates primitive tent camping, hammocks, and RVs, head to Quail Run at Pate’s Creek Camping. You’ll travel down a quiet back road to a dirt driveway leading to a secluded field. This site has over 5 acres of flat, private land, and when you continue down the dirt path to the back of the property, you’ll find a 200-year-old oak tree and a large creek. The campground provides a camping toilet and a sink. Despite its rustic setting, it’s only 2 miles from shopping and restaurants, should you take a break.
