Drive to nearby Naperville and visit the DuPage Children’s Museum. This family attraction will inspire you and your kids with new experiences that promote collaboration, curiosity, and discovery. Dozens of interactive exhibits throughout the museum encourage kids to develop their art, math, and science skills. Themed neighborhoods throughout the facility include a build-it workspace, which allows children to shape and create as they develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. An AWEsome Energy area lets kids explore the wonders of air, water, and electricity through hands-on, interactive learning stations.

Various special events occur throughout the year, including the Back to School Bonanza scheduled for late summer, holiday celebrations, and a family-friendly New Year’s Eve afternoon bash with bubbles. Visit the museum’s website to see the current program offerings.

Admission is $17 for adults and children, $16 for seniors, and free for museum members and children younger than 1. The DuPage Children’s Museum is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Enchanted Castle

Where can you find miniature golf, go-karts, bumper cars, mini bowling, an escape room, and more family-friendly entertainment in one place? The Enchanted Castle in Lombard is an attraction unto itself, offering plenty of activities to keep your kids engaged for hours of play.

If you’re up for a heart-racing experience, the catapult thrill ride will leave you and your kids on the edge of your seats. Soar through the air, fly around corners, and dive through dips that will make your stomach drop. Younger children will love exploring at the Quest II Adventure Playland, featuring interactive rock-climbing challenges, a rainbow bumper bridge, a dragon slide, and a caterpillar crawl.

Seven Bridges Ice Arena

Take to the ice at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge. The venue features two indoor ice arenas that are open to the public. 

The Seven Bridges Skating Academy provides multiple programs for you and your family to master the skill of ice skating. Trained professional staff offer beginners instruction and support to promote their skill development. Also, 10 half-hour practice sessions are included in the cost of the ice-skating lessons. If your kids want to learn to play ice hockey, Seven Bridges offers a non-competitive program designed to teach children the fundamentals of skating and the sport. Ty Warner Spray Park

When temperatures rise during the summer in Westmont, Ty Warner Spray Park is the ideal place to cool off. Kids will find plenty of attractions at this spray park for their entertainment, including the following:

  • Double-barrel water cannon.
  • Giant Misting Whale’s Tail.
  • Multiple ground spray spouts.
  • Mushroom cap water walls.
  • Three-Bucket Sneaky Soaker.
  • Water-shooting cannons.
  • Waterfall dumping bucket.

Admission is $4 per resident child, $6 per non-resident child, and free for adults. Adults or guardians must accompany children younger than 12. 

The Westmont Park District accepts group reservations and party rentals for the cabana at the park. Additionally, a Splash ‘n’ Bash package gives guests the opportunity to host a private party. The package includes admission for 50 adults and children and exclusive use of the Ty Warner Spray Park. Fees are $300 for residents and $350 for non-residents. This package includes 20 park admissions.

Call the Community Center at 630-963-5252 to confirm available dates and times for group visits. Regular summer operating hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.

The Morton Arboretum

Experience nature and learn more about the trees that grow around us at The Morton Arboretum. Located approximately 15 minutes from Westmont in Lisle, The Morton Arboretum is home to more than 220,000 plant specimens representing over 4,600 plants. A total of 16 miles of hiking trails and 9 miles of roads throughout the arboretum provide plenty of pathways that connect you with its extraordinary living material.

The Children’s Garden is one of the highlights of The Morton Arboretum for families. The 4-acre garden offers little ones plenty of sights, sounds, and smells to discover. They can splash through secret streams, clamber over colossal acorns, and slide down giant tree roots. Timed-entry admission for guests is $12 for adults ages 18-64, $11 for adults 65 and older, $9 for children ages 2-17, and free for infants. The arboretum is open daily from 7 a.m. to sunset.
