Kids who enjoy holding and reading hardcover and softcover books have a vast array of books to choose from at the Alpharetta branch of the Fulton County Library. The staff organizes the kids’ books into themes such as nature and the outdoors, arts and music, computers and mathematics, and books on diversity and other cultures. Whether you have a newborn baby or a preschool-age child, you can start reading to them early by checking out books in the library’s kids section.

Teenagers also have their own offerings of age-appropriate books with teen fiction, nonfiction, and graphic novels with illustrations to help expand their reading experience. Adults have thousands of books to choose from in any genre.

Digital Content and Resources

The Fulton County Library system offers a wide range of digital content and resources, including audiobooks, movies, music, and educational information. Most of these require downloading a free app to access these valuable resources. Consider the Hoopla app to listen to audiobooks or music or watch movies.

If you’re learning a new language, use the Mango Languages and Universal Class apps to download and watch educational videos. Be sure to download the Overdrive or Libby app to your mobile device to access digital content. This library also offers streaming storytime so you and your family can enjoy snuggling together at home while being read to by library staff.

Computer and Internet Access

You’ll gain free access to computers, Wi-Fi, and the internet at any location within the Fulton County Library system. You can also print papers from the computers for a minimal charge. You’ll need a current library card or courtesy card to use these services. If you have a wireless-enabled laptop or mobile device, you’re more than welcome to bring it to the Alpharetta Library. With your device, you can browse websites, read digital content, do homework, or do other business-related computer work. This service is free, and the library staff will help you connect to the Wi-Fi if needed.

There are plenty of creative opportunities with events like Cricut Sessions and LEGO Club. The Alpharetta branch features educational workshops like tax assistance, beginner’s Spanish, and English as a second language. There are also convenient online events like cooking classes and book clubs to help you and your family stay connected to the community and each other.

Research Assistance

Here, you’ll have access to these topics and can also view government documents. Take advantage of the Ask-a-Librarian program to learn how to start and fund a non-profit, change your password, renew a library card, and get social services help.

Resources for Teenagers and College-Bound Students

The Alpharetta Library lets people prepare for their General Education Development (GED) test via its digital resources. Once you’re prepared to take the GED test, you can register to take the test through the library’s website. Students can use 24/7 tutoring through Paper.co and the Fulton County Library System, or use Peterson’s Test Prep to prepare for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) tests. The Learning Express with Job and Career Accelerator program helps young people with various learning skills, including college admissions test preparations and computer skills help.

The Access Video for Kids service helps students with homework and tutoring via the internet so that kids can have this help from home. Students will also have access to the University of Georgia’s research and learning platform, GALILEO, to research study databases and collections of useful digital materials.
