For those with kids 8-years-old and under and a love of the outdoors in Mount Laurel, Tinkergarten is a great club for the whole family. Parents and kids together get to explore nature with other families and a certified leader. During each club session, the leader guides the kids and adults through play-based, exploratory activities designed to encourage persistence, creativity, and communication. Each club lasts for nine weeks and does require advanced sign up. You can try a class for free before enrolling in the full session. 

Sports Squirts

A wonderful parent and child activity to consider for the toddler set is a parent and child dance class, often referred to as a “mommy and me” dance class. The Marcia Hyland Dance and Arts Center is a local studio in Mount Laurel that offers this type of parent and child class. It’s a great way to introduce your kiddo to a variety of dance styles while spending quality time together. This particular studio offers classes for 2-year-olds, but other studios may have a wider range of ages.

As an example of the classes you might find, they’ve offered a Taste of Italy class for kids as young as 4 and as old as 14 in the past. Butcher’s Sew Class

For a unique club experience for kids and adults alike, consider a sewing group. Butcher’s Sew Shop is a Philadelphia institution that wants to give everyone the opportunity to learn how to perform basic sewing, mend their clothes, or improve their hand- and machine-sewing skills. Butcher’s Sew Shop Junior offers year-round clubs and classes for kids from ages 5 to 15. Kids learn skills like mending with a needle and thread, using a sewing machine, knowing how to sew a button and make basic repairs, and completing original projects like pillows, bags, stuffed animals, and clothes. 

Book Club 2 Go 

If you have a family of book lovers, the Mount Laurel Library offers a great book club option that works for families. Their Book Club 2 Go program provides members with 12 copies of the selected book and discussion questions for the book club meeting. You can also use these kits to meet up with other families and create a neighborhood book club. Most of the books are best for older kids, so keep that in mind when setting up your book club.
