The Belfry Theatre

That’s where you’ll find The Belfry Theatre, a community mainstay that brings together people who want to express their acting and creative skills with audiences who appreciate quality productions. The theater got its start way back in 1965, when a few residents of Noblesville decided to take their passion for reading plays together to the next level. First, they formed the Hamilton County Theatre Guild, putting on a performance of “Ah, Wilderness!” to an audience of over 500 people. What followed was years of performances and success, eventually leading to the purchase of the former building for the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in 1968. The Guild improved the building, getting it ready for the first productions at The Belfry in 1969.
Throughout the years that followed, additional expansions and improvements to the building helped create this community institution. The guild today produces a wide variety of plays, so you can stop in for one show or become a season ticket holder to indulge in all the amazing live theater you can get. The organization runs a multidisciplinary performing arts campus with a variety of facilities, including the Palladium, a 1,600-seat, state-of-the-art concert hall as well as a 500-seat proscenium theater known as the Tarkington and a 200-seat black box theater called the Studio Theater.
