If your family is looking for adventure, look no further than The Woodlands’ own Texas TreeVentures. Kiddos as young as six can get in on the action here. The outdoor aerial adventure course takes you up into the trees to enjoy a physically and mentally challenging but oh-so-fun activity perfect for special days out and about with family and friends. Whether you’re planning a birthday or seeking some just-because fun, you’ll want to have Texas TreeVentures on your list. Traverse the poles, cables, and more high up in the air and have a day to remember.

Pro-tip: The Texas TreeVentures course is located on The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park, neighboring the George Mitchell Nature Preserve. The preserve’s 1,800 acres are home to amazing wildlife as well as hiking and biking trails, so add a trip to this nearby site to your outing to Texas TreeVentures to really impress adventurous, nature-loving kids while enjoying some quality family time.

George Mitchell Nature Preserve

Regardless of whether your family is into the treetop adventuring that Texas TreeVentures offers, you’ll want to check out George Mitchell Nature Preserve. The nature preserve is part of the Montgomery County Spring Creek Greenway, a project in development that will ultimately connect up to 12,000 acres of forest. However, it’s already one of The Woodlands’ top parks — and that’s saying a lot considering the township boasts 150 parks and 220 miles of hiking and biking trails.

Go for a family hike while looking out for migrating birds and other wildlife, or head out for a bike ride along the 3 miles of bike trails. You’ll get to see some gorgeous trees and other plants as you do.

The Woodlands Children’s Museum

Sure, The Woodlands Children’s Museum is geared toward the youngest museum-goers, but that doesn’t mean the whole family won’t have a ton of fun with a visit here. This local non-profit museum provides opportunities for education, empowerment, and excitement through play. You’ll set your kids up for a lifelong love of museums thanks to the wonder and discovery this local favorite inspires.

So, what can visitors look forward to at this museum? From an interactive light-up wall to an art bar, an unstructured play-based Dream + Build area to a performances stage and so much more, there’s truly something for everyone here. Kids will delight in the hands-on workshops and activities exploring topics like art, science, and robotics, making The Woodlands Children’s Museum the perfect place to visit when you want to spend a day together as a family.

Public Art in The Woodlands

Maybe your kiddos are into art, always looking for ways to express themselves creatively. Or maybe you’re just looking for a fun way to spend a few hours exploring the town with your family in tow. Either way, you’re in luck thanks to all the public art you’ll find in The Woodlands. With one of the largest collections of public art in all of Texas, The Woodlands makes upping your art appreciation game easier than ever before. Better yet, these pieces are free to view and often interactive, so you can rest assured your kids will enjoy the experience.

Check out the art benches, a collection of over 20 pieces installed in prime locations around The Woodlands Waterway and Lake Woodlands. These usable public art pieces have brought art to The Woodlands since 2014. Then, look for the over 21 mosaics that showcase our area’s amazing talent. You can even combine your art adventure with a bike ride thanks to the Public Art Loops suggested by the Bike The Woodlands Coalition.

Terramont Park

You can’t go wrong with a visit to one of The Woodlands’ great parks if you want an easy-to-plan but super fun family outing. Take Terramont Park, for example. Whether you want to make use of the basketball courts, tennis courts, or multi-purpose fields to play your family’s favorite sport or you want to relax and have a meal outdoors at the picnic tables or barbecue pits, this park has you covered.

That’s just the start. There’s also a disc golf course, play equipment for both older and younger children, and more. You can even take your family pet on your outing thanks to the dog park in Terramont Park!

Rob Fleming Aquatic Center

When the temperatures rise, you’ll want to pay a visit to Rob Fleming Aquatic Center. You’ll find the award-winning attraction adjacent to Lake Paloma and Rob Fleming Park in the Village of Creekside Park. Relax in the lazy river, or swim some laps in the swimming lanes. The facility also includes a plunge pool, water slides, and a water play structure. When your kids need a break from the water, you can hang out at the shade structures or enjoy the available concessions.

Northshore Park

Searching for an outdoor attraction with plenty of space? Look no further than Northshore Park, another amazing park in The Woodlands. This park is right on the lake and boasts a fun playground, so you know every family member will have something to enjoy. Pencil in a day here for family fishing, or put it on your list whenever it’s time for an impromptu outing complete with swings, picnic tables, volleyball courts, and more.
