Since 2009, the professional educators and musicians at Ladybug Music have provided families with young children musical classes to enhance their fine and gross motor skills, body/brain connections, and language and reasoning skills. Kids also gain social/emotional understanding when they take music classes from Ladybug Music.

In the curriculum for the mommy and me classes, the instructors teach youngsters how to keep time with drums, shakers, and sticks; sing songs to learn new words; improve fine motor skills with small movement songs; and increase body awareness with fun dances. The classes offered are for children from infants to 4 year-olds and their parents. Each class is 40 minutes long and offered in 10-week sessions. After a fun day at Ladybug Music, take your family to any of these plant-based restaurants near Maple Grove for a satisfying meal.

Blooma Minneapolis

The professional yoga instructors at Blooma Minneapolis hold yoga classes for mothers with newborn babies, barre for parents with newborn to pre-crawling children, and little kids yoga. When you come to Blooma with your pre-crawling baby to the Bring Your Own Baby class, you’ll bond with your young child through loving touch, sight, sounds, and movement. As you practice gentle yoga moves, you can incorporate your baby into the yoga sequence to receive a nurturing and strengthening practice.

Barre is a great way to tone, lift, and engage muscles all at once. In the Barre babywearing class, you’ll have your baby in a carrier strapped to you while working out on your exercise mat and the stable wooden barre. Kids 9 months to 4 years will have a blast in the Little Kids Yoga class where the instructors combine song, dance, and basic yoga postures for a fun session.

If you have older children from 4 to 8, they can take their own Big Kids Yoga class. During this class, the instructors guide your child through yoga postures so your youngster can gain concentration skills, learn how to manage stress and anxiety, and build strength and flexibility.

Foss Swim School

When kids take swimming lessons, they learn basic water safety, swimming strokes, and self-rescue techniques that help make them strong and confident swimmers. When you enroll yourself and your child in Backfloat Baby classes at the Foss Swim School, you’ll get in the water with your baby under the age of 3 and you’ll learn how to support your child while they float on their back, how to teach your baby to climb out of the water should they fall in, and how to hold them when practicing submersion techniques.

Even if your child is already comfortable in the bathtub or pool and puts their face underwater, the Backfloat Baby classes will give you confidence that they are learning the fundamental skills of basic swimming and water safety. Once your child masters the Backfloat Baby levels, they’ll advance to classes where they learn more independent water and swimming skills.

Color Me Mine

You and your child from 2 to 5 years old can bring out your inner artist when you sign up for Toddler Tuesday at Color Me Mine. Once a month the instructors at Color Me Mine offer this fun and interactive mommy and me paint your own pottery class with a different theme for each month. The staff provides guidance, the pottery piece, all the paints, and all studio fees. Check the Color Me Mine website often for when they offer family day.
